Vegetable Share Contents: Cabbage Swiss Chard Green Beans Zucchini Shishito Peppers Dill Grape Tomatoes Bread Share: Turkey Red Turkey Red is a heritage wheat variety with a fascinating history. It was brought by Anabaptist German-Ukrainian immigrants to the American Midwest in the late 1800s. Thanks to its wide adaptability and excellent baking qualities, other farmers in the region began buying the seed and by the end of the century it was the most widely grown variety there. In the 20th century it was used as parent material in breeding efforts, and many popular wheat varieties grown today are descendants from this line.We use only whole Turkey Red wheat grown and milled in Virginia for this small round hearth loaf. The variety is known for its strong flavor and makes an excellent bread for the whole grain enthusiast to sample!Ingredients: Wheat flour, water, sourdough culture, salt.Net weight 15 oz. |
