Bread Share: Turkey Red
Turkey Red is a heritage wheat variety with a fascinating history. It was brought by Anabaptist German-Ukrainian immigrants to the American Midwest in the late 1800s. Thanks to its wide adaptability and excellent baking qualities, other farmers in the region began buying the seed and by the end of the century it was the most widely grown variety there. In the 20th century it was used as parent material in breeding efforts, and many popular wheat varieties grown today are descendants from this line.We use only whole Turkey Red wheat grown and milled in Virginia for this small round hearth loaf. The variety is known for its strong flavor and makes an excellent bread for the whole grain enthusiast to sample!Ingredients: Wheat flour, water, sourdough culture, salt.Net weight 15 oz.

|All about Online Ordering|
With the extended hours of our farm store this year, we have doubled our availability to you. This means you are able to get fresh veggies, eggs, flowers and bread four days a week. Even still, it may not be uncommon for you to stop by our store or the market only to find we have sold out of the vegetable or loaf you had your mind set on.
