Here Comes the Fall: Newsletter September 20, 2022

Here Comes the Fall It is hard to believe that we are announcing the beginning of a new season on the farm. As the calendar turns toward Fall, we are seeing a decline in most of our summer produce. Tomatoes, Summer Squash, Okra and Green Beans are now limited on our online store and at market. In order to provide the best produce, we must adhere to Mother Nature’s schedule which means preparing for our first frost and encouraging plants which prefer a chill in the air. Our tunnels are undergoing bed preparation for overwintering crops, our blueberry patch is coming together for planting, and our cold weather plants are thriving more and more with each day. For those of you who love your greens and root veggies, they will all be in stock soon if not already. If you are more of a summer veggie lover, keep an eye on our online store or visit us at one of our two market locations to stock up! As always, we appreciate your patience and understanding while we transition between seasons! |
CSA Products and News WEEK Twenty: Little Hat Creek Farm is a sustainable small-scale market farm located in Roseland, VA. We have known Ben and Heather for some time and share many of the same farming principles. Like us, their veggies are grown using natural practices such as cover cropping and crop rotation while staying away from chemical sprays and fertilizers. This year we have decided to supplement a few of our CSA shares with produce grown at Little Hat Creek in order to provide a more ample share along with promoting another local ecologically friendly farm! This week’s Nappa Cabbage is a product of Little Hat Creek Farm! |
