Where We’ll be this Winter

| Year-End Markets October generally sees the end of regular season markets. The last day of our 2023 CSA is October 25, the last day for the Forest Farmers Market is October 28th and while the Lynchburg Community Market is generally year-long, there is a sharp drop off of vendors in attendance after October. Because of this we have been getting a lot of questions about where y’all can find us this Winter. Take a look at our updated list below to find out!! Rookie’s Mid-Week Farm Stand: October 25 (the last day of our 2023 CSA) will be the last day of our midweek farm stand. Due to the dropping temps and fewer hours of light we will no longer have our midweek farm stand. Instead you can preorder to pickup at The Farm Truck in Boonsboro OR preorder to pickup at our Bakery in Forest (PRE-PAID ONLY FOR THS LOCATION). Both of these will be available for pickup on Wednesdays from 3-6 pm with an order deadline of Tuesday at 9pm. Forest Farmers Market: The last day of the normal market will be October 28th. After this we will do our best to attend each of the Winter Market dates which occur on the second Saturday of each month. Be sure to follow us on social media, and continue reading our newsletter to know ahead of time if we will be in attendance! Because we will not be at the Forest Market each week we will allow preorders for pickup at our bakery on Saturday mornings instead (PRE-PAID ONLY). Lynchburg Community Market: We will continue to attend this market as often as possible. Due to holidays and other unforeseen circumstances, we will be sure to keep you updated if we plan to not attend certain dates. As always, farming during the winter can be tricky and working around the holidays comes with its own set of complications. We thank you ahead of time for your patience as we navigate these colder months ahead. No matter what, we will always be happy to answer any questions you may have. We will do our best to have at least one day in which you can shop and pick up fresh, sustainably-grown produce and bread from us each and every week!! |

| Garlic Going Next year’s garlic is already on its way! This last week we planted our garlic crop. With a growing time similar to that of a human pregnancy, we have to think way in advance in order to make sure you all are able to enjoy our no spray garlic heads each season. This year we had a great crop and were able to make it last several months at market. With even more planted than last year, we hope to keep the momentum going. This week we planted ELEVEN beds of garlic. Exactly how many plants is that? 2,500!! You read that right, we are hoping to have 2,500 heads of garlic to harvest next year! We will continue to keep a close eye on their growth but will not start harvesting them until the spring when we start clipping the garlic scapes to sell and help improve garlic head growth! Stay tuned to see how the crop does! |
